What if I just asked you—“Are you living a life you really, truly love?”
It’s a heavy question, I know. And most of us would probably reply with something like, “Umm… I think so?” or “Not really, but I’m trying.”
And that’s exactly why I’m writing this—to talk like a friend, not a life coach. No sugar-coated stuff, no unrealistic ‘quit your job and go live in the mountains’ kind of advice. Just 12 doable, honest things I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) that can help you create a life you love waking up to.

1. Know What You Don’t Want First
We always hear “follow your passion” or “figure out what you want.” But let’s be real—it’s way easier to first figure out what you don’t want.
For me, I knew I didn’t want to feel drained every Monday or be around people who left me feeling less-than. That helped me narrow down choices and make space for things I did want—peace, purpose, and good energy.

2. Create Tiny Rituals That Feel Like You
Not routines. Rituals. That 10 minutes of journaling in the morning. That walk without your phone in the evening. Lighting a candle before bed.
I started adding small moments like these into my day and suddenly, life felt more like mine. You don’t need to do all the trending productivity hacks—just find what grounds you.
3. Start Saying ‘No’ Without Explaining Yourself
This is a hard one, especially if you’re a people-pleaser like I used to be. But saying “no” can be the most loving thing you do—for yourself and others.
I’ve learned to say no to things that drain me, even if they sound exciting or look good on paper. No is not rude. No is self-respect.
4. Audit Your Circle (Quietly)
The people you talk to every day shape the energy you carry. Take a look at your inner circle. Do they encourage you? Challenge you (in a good way)? Celebrate your wins?
I had to slowly, quietly step back from a few friendships that had turned one-sided. It wasn’t dramatic. It was just necessary.
5. Do That One Thing You Keep Postponing
Everyone has that one thing on their mental to-do list. For me, it was starting a blog. For you, it might be joining a dance class, sending that email, or finally organizing your desk.
Whatever it is—do it badly, but do it. You don’t need to wait for perfection to begin. Movement creates momentum.
6. Romanticize Your Everyday
Sounds cheesy, I know. But trust me, it works. I started playing soft music while making breakfast. I put my to-do list on pretty paper. I started dressing a little nicer even when working from home.
It made life feel better. Like something I was part of, not just passing through.
7. Save Money Without Making It a Burden
Money is peace of mind. And peace of mind is key to loving your life.
You don’t need to become a finance guru overnight, but small steps like tracking expenses or starting a basic savings plan can help you sleep easier.
I use a simple spreadsheet and the “50-30-20” rule: 50% needs, 30% wants, 20% savings. It’s not perfect, but it’s helped me stop dreading the end of the month.
8. Reconnect with Your Body (Not Just the Gym Way)
This isn’t just about fitness. This is about listening to your body.
Are you sleeping enough? Eating when you’re hungry—not bored? Stretching when you feel stiff?
I realized I was treating my body like a machine that just needed to “perform.” Now I talk to it a bit more kindly. Try asking, “What do you need today?” and just listen.
9. Let Yourself Be Seen, As You Are
I used to water myself down to fit into places I didn’t belong. Smile more, nod politely, hide the real stuff.
But the more I started sharing my real thoughts—even the messy ones—on my blog and in conversations, the more I attracted my people.
You don’t need to be loud to be seen. You just need to be real.
10. Learn to Sit with Silence
We fill every gap with scrolling, talking, watching something. But some of my most grounding moments have come when I did nothing.
Just sat in silence. On a park bench. On the floor. In bed, staring at the ceiling.
You’ll be surprised what your heart tells you when the world gets quiet.
11. Choose Progress, Not Perfection
This is something I still struggle with. I delay things because I want them to be perfect. But every time I chose progress—sending a rough draft, trying a new habit for just a week—I moved closer to the life I wanted.
Start messy. Improve later.

12. Make Space for Joy—Not Just Goals
This one’s a gentle reminder: your life is not a checklist. You’re not here just to tick off achievements.
Add joy to your days—random dancing, watching the clouds, cooking for fun, reading something silly, petting street dogs. These are not distractions. These are life.
One of my favorite things to do lately? Play old 90s songs while folding laundry. Turns a chore into a dance party.

Look, you don’t have to uproot your entire life to start creating a life you love. You just have to start choosing yourself—in tiny ways, every day.
You’re allowed to change. You’re allowed to grow. And most importantly, you’re allowed to want more, even if your life looks “okay” on the outside.
