We all have daily habits that we engage in, some good and some not so good. These habits shape our lives and can either lead us to success or hold us back from reaching our full potential. I have just entered my 30s, and as much as I want not to remind this to myself, my body does reminds me, I am getting older. Not that, there’s no fun, excitement, goal, purpose etc. It’s just that I’m not 23 anymore. My needs, desires, ways to leisure, kind of mental space I crave for, people I want to be with, all has changed. My priorities has changed and well, yeah, after all, it’s “30’s”!
And That’s why I believe it’s so important to focus on improving our daily habits and making positive changes in our lives. As the life is progressing, I have noticed my love for reading and writing is growing too, though not something I’ll take up professionally, anytime soon. But, yeah who knows 🙂. Nonetheless, I have been reading a couple of self-help books on habits and thinking and how can we make molecular changes to show big impacts, etc. More on these books, I’ll come up with some other time.
For now, I have filtered out these 6 habits which I have personaly worked upon over past few months and I must say I have already started noticing subtle changes and these are the good ones. And trust me, accept one of these, all other are pretty easy to inculcate and practice on daily basis. So why not you try out for yourself too?
6 Daily Habits
Wake up early

There is absolutely no doubt that waking up early can give you a head start on your day and help you feel more productive and energized. But I do understand how difficult it could be to get out of your bed at 5 in the morning. Honestly, speaking getting up at 5 is not what we need. Just try to wake up a little early from what you are used to, may be 30 mins at the beginning and later once you are okay, reduce it by further 30 mins. Catch here is, set a consistent wake-up time each day and stick to it, even on the weekends. You may check out my blog for more tips on How to Wake Up Early.
Exercise regularly

This is something which we all know, and probably a fit and healthy body is what everyone craves for. Right? Then what stops us? Exercise has been proven to have numerous benefits, including improved mental health and increased energy levels.
Last year, I made a promise to myself to hit the gym atleast 6 days a week. and though initially it felt a bit difficult I realised, with each passing week my commitment towards my work out kept on increasing. And eventually, it is now a part of my daily routine. It’s important to make time each day for physical activity, whether it’s a morning run, a yoga class, any sports you love to play, gym or any outdoor activity.
Just Do It.
Eat a healthy diet

It’s simple maths. The output you get is directly proportional to the input to give. What you put into your body has a big impact on how you feel, both physically and mentally. Consuming too much of junk, unhealthy diet is for sure, going to harm you. So, make sure to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins to keep yourself fuelled and energized.
Stay organized

Being organized can help you feel more in control of your life and reduce stress. And it is not just limited to making a to-do list and set your tasks, that is one aspect of being organised and you may use a planner to keep track of your schedule, set reminders for important tasks etc. Staying organised also means to carry yourself in a way which seems let cluttered.
Keep your desk clean, neatly organise things there. Even your wardrobe, your kitchen shelves, bathroom accessories, make your bed every single day in morning and even your desktop/mobile folders, I like to keep my desktop clean and minimalist. Actually, practicing minimalism is what helps you further staying organised and focused.
Reduce screen time
Well, here comes the trickiest habit, and which took a lot of effort and will power from my side to get it done. Eventually I was able to reduce my screentime to a significant low levels and capture more time for me. You already know, spending too much time in front of screens can be harmful to your mental and physical health.
But, given today’s scenarios and ever increasing benefits of “WFH” culture, it is really hard to cut off screen times, but we can still make room to reduce it’s harmful effects. I have set “blue light filter” mode for my macbook and iPhone to default Turned On. This helps reduce constrain on my eyes significantly.
Also, make sure to take breaks from your devices and engage in other activities, such as reading a book or going for a walk. Just to show you my progress :

Practice mindfulness

Well, if it was just One Habit which I could have suggested you, that for sure has to have been practicing mindfulness. I have felt myself how relaxing it is to just sit close your eyes and turn off thinking. Just feel what is happening next to you. and you are there in that moment, totally present, yet totally disconnected.
When I do it, it’s random, at any time of the day I feel like, just close my eyes, and focus only on what my ears can hear, clock in my room ticking, some random white noise, may be a motorcycle passing by, some random machines, making noise, probably some construction work going around my place, then may be some car honks etc and see, I’m just siting in my room and observing all of it and yet relaxing, cause my brain in not thinking about infinite problems I am having in my life right now.
Practice meditation, deep silences, yoga, or just Be in that moment, mindfulness is in just being present. And if you want to have a deeper insight about mindfulness, head over to this amazing article: Power of Mindfulness
Having said this, it is equally important to accept that improving your daily habits takes time and effort, but the results are worth it. By making small changes each day, you can create a ripple effect that leads to big changes in your life. So start today and see what a difference it can make!
